Hey there! I’m Jodi and I help homeschool parents like you feel less stress and more joy and happiness throughout the home education journey. I do this by sharing simple solutions to the common challenges of homeschooling and by guiding you in creating systems and routines that will help you and your children thrive.
I understand the frustrations and overwhelm you feel at times because I too am a homeschool mom.
We opted to educate our children at home because we felt it was the best choice for each of them individually and for our family as a whole. I’m confident we’ve made the right decision, but it certainly has not always been easy.
You’re in the right place if there are parts of homeschooling you don’t love, sometimes question your choice, worry you aren’t doing it well enough or find it all to be more challenging than you ever imagined. It is hard. It can be overwhelming. Your feelings are valid.
BUT, IT CAN BE EASIER. YOU CAN FEEL MORE CONFIDENT. YOUR DAYS CAN RUN SMOOTHLY.
The fact that you’re here tells me you are a dedicated parent who wants the best for your family. That is what matters more than anything else and that is also why you can do this and do it with confidence and space for rest.
I created Ideas for Homeschoolers as a place to share the tips and strategies that can make it all so much more simple and enjoyable.
There is something I haven’t told you about me yet.
I’m not just a home educator. I’m a professional educator turned home educator.
I have advanced degrees in Elementary Education, Educational Technology and Curriculum & Instruction. I achieved National Board Teacher Certification. I was Teacher of the Year for my county. I have over 15 years experience in elementary classrooms and have taught hundreds of children to read, write, add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Like a growing number of teachers, I saw “behind the curtain” and that is what motivated me to choose to homeschool. With my education and years spent in the classroom, I foolishly thought homeschooling my own kids would be a piece of cake. I was wrong. However, my first-hand experience as a public school teacher is the reason I was so committed to making it work, determined to find ways to make it easier and am passionate about helping other families succeed as homeschoolers too.
It can be hard at times…but you already know that.
It’s also wonderful and amazing and rewarding and a privilege…but you already know that too.
I’m looking forward to sharing the ideas, tips, tricks, and hacks I’ve learned over the past 5 years that have taken us from overwhelmed to organized and transformed the mess and stress into homeschool happiness.
